Se
formó en 1987 bajo el nombre de “Sweet Children” para luego cambiarse a Green Day en 1989. La banda cuenta con 8 álbumes
de estudio lanzados hasta la fecha: “39/Smooth” (1990), “Kerplunk!” (1992), “Dookie” (1994), “Insomniac”
(1995), “Nimrod” (1997), “Warning” (2000), “American Idiot” (2004) y “21st
Century Breakdown” (2009).
Han
vendido más de 65 millones de discos en todo el mundo, y 25 millones solo en
Estados Unidos.
En
el año 2010 la banda obtuvo una adaptación de su álbum “American Idiot” en Broadway.

escrito por el cantante Billie Joe Armstrong, y su lanzamiento se hizo el 29 de
noviembre de 2004 en formato de descarga digital. Es una canción de género Rock
Alternativo con una duración de 4:20 minutos. Es considerada como la novena canción
más vendida de la década con más de 2.084.000 copias descargadas.
